Privacy notice
Last updated: 1 October 2026
This notice explains what happens to your information when you use braidmethod.com, including the Braid Check.
The short version
- While you take the Braid Check, your answers stay in your browser.
- When you see your result, a copy of your answers and result is saved for research. It is never stored with your name, email address or IP address.
- If you ask for your report, we use your email address to send it. We don't keep a copy of the report, and our database doesn't store your answers with your email. Resend, our email provider, keeps the sent email for 30 days.
- You only get Braid Method launch news if you choose it. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- We use no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising cookies.
Who we are
The Braid Method and braidmethod.com are run by Josefine Bin Jung, who is responsible for your data (the "controller" under UK data protection law). Questions or requests: hello@braidmethod.com.
The Braid Check is for adults aged 18 and over. It is a self-reflection tool based on your own answers. It isn't medical, psychological or financial advice.
What we collect, why and for how long
| What | When | Why (legal basis) | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Research record: your answers, scores and result, the date, and a random ID that is also in your private link | When your result first shows | Our legitimate interest in improving the Check and checking that it works. It is never stored with your name, email address or IP address | 24 months, then deleted automatically |
| Your report: your email address and your answers | When you click a send button | To send the report you asked for. Some answers are about your health (Body and Mind), so we use them only with your explicit consent, which you give when you click send | We keep no copy. Resend, our email provider, keeps the sent email for 30 days |
| Sending limit: a scrambled, one-way version of your email address and the date | When you click a send button | Our legitimate interest in preventing misuse: each address can receive three reports a day | 7 days, then deleted automatically |
| Launch news from the homepage: your email address | When you sign up on the homepage | Your consent: you are joining the early-access list for Braid Method launch news | Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it |
| Launch news after the Check: your email address, where you came from, your route (Redesign or Rebuild) and the name of your main result | When you choose "Send my report + launch news" or "Join the early-access list" | Your consent. We note your route and result so the updates we send are relevant to you | Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it |
| Hosting logs: your IP address, browser type and the pages you request | Every visit | Our legitimate interest in running the site securely | As set by our hosting providers |
We never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who else handles your data
Resend, Kit and Lovable handle data for us under data processing terms that limit them to our instructions.
| Provider | What it does for us | What it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resend | Sends your report email | Your email address and your report, which includes your answers | United States. Certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension |
| Kit | Sends Braid Method launch news | Your email address, and the notes listed above if you join after the Check | United States. Certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, with standard contractual clauses as a backup |
| Lovable Cloud (built on Supabase) | Stores the research records and the sending limit | The data in those two rows above | European Union (Frankfurt, Germany) |
| Lovable and Cloudflare | Host and deliver the website | Your IP address and the pages you request | Delivered from locations worldwide |
The Instagram link in the footer is a plain link: nothing is sent to Instagram unless you click it.
Cookies and browser storage
Our site sets no cookies and uses no analytics. The Braid Check uses your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab:
- braid-check-draft-v1 holds your answers while you take the Check, so a refresh doesn't lose them.
- braid-arrival holds your email address if you came from our homepage sign-up or a welcome email, so it is filled in for you at the end.
Nothing in session storage reaches us until your result shows (the research record) or you click send. This storage is needed for the Check to work, so we don't ask for cookie consent.
Your private link
Once your report is open, you can copy a private link to it. Your answers are stored inside the link itself, after the # sign, which browsers don't send to any server. We don't keep the link. Anyone you give it to can see your answers, so keep it private.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to get a copy to take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time; every launch-news email has an unsubscribe link. Email hello@braidmethod.com and we'll reply within one month.
Research records aren't linked to your name or email, so we can't find yours from your email address. To have yours deleted, send us your private link and we'll delete every record with its ID.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. If you live in the EU, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this notice
We'll update this notice when the way we use data changes, and change the date at the top.
